My goodness, how long has it been!? I haven't touched this blog in a long time!


Well, at least after 10 million years, we're finally writing on this web space again and we're bringing you good news:

The Cake Shack's feature in the Wedding Planner magazine, Katie homies! Sorry, I get all ghetto when I'm excited. :)

When asked what season we wanted for the theme of our cake, Genine and I immediately picked winter. We love the snow even if the frosty cold makes us hurt to the point of incapacity. haha. Plus we figured that we won't be making a whole lot of winter-themed wedding cake in the Philippines anyway, so might as well do it now.

The motif chosen was white and blue. We wanted to incorporate the obvious: snow and snowflakes. For the bottom tier, we added the turn-of-the-century design and frosted it with silver paint. And of course, my favorite, the toppers-- two winter birds perched on a snowy crescent moon. :)

I hate to think that every marriage is a situation from which a groom cannot escape. Instead, I'd like to think that a marriage is not only a union of two people, but a union of two lives. Two people with two distinct lives, who are willing to set aside their differences to be together. So, everyone unites because of love! ISN'T THAT SWEET? 

Forgive me if my thoughts seem naive but that is what I want to believe, and age/time hasn't come to rob me of my ideals just yet.

See, so The Cake Shack's Chess Set is actually different from all the others. Nobody eats anybody on this board. They all live happily ever after, with the occasional problems brought about by in-laws. *winkwink*

P.S. The marble is sugar! :)

If you're wondering why Audrey Hepburn ended up in our Cake Diaries, we made a 50's RETRO CAKE and she's here show you how it turned out! 

Originally, the cake should've been just the Vinyl Record and the Jukebox. BUT THEN, we thought it would be totally awesome if we put the record on a turntable, just to complete the look! So we did.

Isn't it purrtyyyy! Oh, and the wood grain is made of sugar. I love how the Cake Shack pushes us to become better artists. Every order gets us thinking of how to make each cake awesomer. 

Below, the Jukebox we made days earlier. It really hardened like a rock in the dehumidifier! This is definitely something the birthday celebrant could keep. :)

Guillain & I have been listeners of JAM 88.3 for years. And yes, The Cake Shack is a huge fan of the Hilary & Scotty show. One regular cake afternoon, while listening to Slide and making fondant, Hil talked about her pregnancy. I got so excited that I just blurted out in the Shoutbox, "Can we make your baby's cake? We’re giving it to you for free, so... You can’t say no!” And well, she didn't!

The moment we put down the cake, Hilary’s Mom had the cutest reaction! The first thing she asked was, “Can that be preserved?” It was a very rewarding experience for us---to have blessed another with our talent and skill, and in return, being part of Hilary’s new and exciting chapter in her life.

Hil grew up reading Beatrix Potter’s Peter Rabbit, hence the cake’s theme. It was, by far, the most fun project we’ve made. As much as possible, we had to stay close to Potter’s sketches.

The red velvet cupcakes were gone in no time.

The fun didn’t end there, though. When Guillain cut the cake, all the guests (including us) were simply amazed by the colorful interior. We admit, we had made this cake several times but this was actually the first time we experienced The Cake Shack’s Big Gay Rainbow Cake.

As guests slowly moved towards to take a closer look, the very concerned Mother hurried down to rescue Peter Rabbit, the Lil Bean and the rest of his garden. And oh, “Yung pala, wag niyong kalimutan!” to edit.

It was a fun-filled afternoon at Paul Calvin’s Deli, filled with games (which were challenging, I must say), yummy food and most of all, wonderful people.

So we don't really play angry birds... But from what I've been seeing online, I guess these birds got angry coz the Happy Pigs stole their eggs so they could eat them. What's the deal with the golden egg? I have no idea. 

So. Who wins? No one. In the end, they all get eaten by the lovely engaged couple--Therese and Carlo. We're making their wedding cake, too! SOOOOO EXCITED. 

...is when i made them out of fondant!!!

Our Barbie figurine looks more of Sookie Stackhouse from HBO's True Blood. Therefore, this cake will no longer be called the Barbie Cake. We now renamed it to the True Blood cake. 

I can't believe that it hasn't even been a year yet we're getting all sorts of awesomeness from The Cake Shack. This is one of them!
